Understanding Your
DVA Dental Benefits

The DVA Dental Program covers a comprehensive range of dental treatments, including general dentistry services such as check-ups, cleanings, tooth fillings, teeth extractions, and panoramic X-rays. Additionally, depending on your entitlement and clinical needs, the program may cover more complex procedures like root canal treatments, dental implants, dental crowns, bridges and dentures.

The DVA Approval Process

Before commencing any dental treatment, it is essential to obtain prior financial authorisation from the DVA for some items from Schedule B and C. Most of the general dental treatments are from Schedule A, and they will not need authorisation from DVA.

Our experienced staff will work closely with you through the following steps:

Preparing a detailed treatment plan and quote for the recommended dental services and procedures.

Submitting the treatment plan and quote to the DVA for review and approval – should have detailed information about the accepted disabilities.

Once approved by the DVA, they will issue an approval number – this includes the annual monetary limit and clinical need for the calendar year.

You must provide this approval number to our clinic when you come in for your appointments to receive treatment.

With the approval number, the entire cost of your entitled teeth services will be covered by the DVA

You will not have any out-of-pocket expenses for the accepted condition and approved treatments.

Then, our Smile Ville dentist will make a claim via the Medicare portal, so you will not have to claim back from them.
